JasperSoft Business Intelligence Suite 2.0 — Extending the Reach
JasperSoft Business Intelligence Suite 2.0 is a significant product line expansion that makes the benefits of BI available to more users than ever before. The suite offers a full range of BI capabilities including production reporting, interactive reporting, data analysis, and data integration, which make BI easily accessible to anyone within an organization through a web browser.
JasperSoft Business Intelligence Suite 2.0 adds four new products to the existing suite:
- NEW - JasperReports Professional Edition — a new commercial version of the world’s most popular open source Java reporting library and graphical report designer for operational deployments;
- NEW - JasperReports Developer Edition — a new commercial version of the world’s most popular open source Java reporting library and graphical report designer for operational deployments;
- NEW - JasperStudio Professional Edition — a new commercial version of iReport, the world’s most popular graphical report designer
- NEW - JasperETL Professional Edition — commercial version of the high-performance open source data integration (ETL) product designed to create and update operational data stores, data marts, and data warehouses
JasperSoft Business Intelligence Suite 2.0 also adds significant new capabilities to other products within the suite:
All of the products in the JasperSoft Business Intelligence Suite are available individually or as an integrated suite that uses common metadata and shared security, repository, and scheduling services. The Professional Edition also adds web-based ad-hoc reporting and ease-of-use improvements using web 2.0 AJAX drag-and-drop technology, making it even easier to quickly create advanced interactive reports.
Key new features in Version 2.0 of the JasperSoft Business Intelligence Suite include:
- Web-based ad hoc reporting for non-SQL data sources;
- Web-based interactive WSYWIG ad hoc crosstab (matrix) reporting;
- Web-based interactive ad hoc report filtering and parameterization using drop-down menus, radio buttons, and checkboxes;
- Web-based interactive sorting of ad hoc tabular reports;
- JasperAnalysis workbench – a tool to manage OLAP metadata and databases for JasperAnalysis, including a graphical OLAP schema builder;
- Graphical MDX query builder for JasperAnalysis;
- Scalability improvements for JasperAnalysis;
- The ability to save personalized snapshots of reporting and analysis views;
- Full localization in French, German, Italian, and Japanese;
- Support for additional operating systems: Fedora Enterprise Linux, Mac OS X, Debian Linux, Windows 2000, Windows Vista, Solaris, HP-UX, and rPath Linux;
- Support for additional repository databases: PostgreSQL, EnterpriseDB, Microsoft SQL Server 2005, and Ingres (note: any JDBC 2.0 compliant database can be used as a data source);
- JasperServer Ultimate Guide and JasperAnalysis Ultimate Guide with more how-to’s, tips and tricks, and advanced information; and
- Shared multi-developer repository for JasperETL Professional.
