The Template Exporter add-on for JasperReports provides an alternative way to export JasperReports files to HTML. It preserves free-form page layout designs and adds support for report interactivity such as sort, hide/show sections (also called folding), and display pop-ups.

When you want to provide richer HTML formatting and interactivity, and you can test for and specify browser requirements, use the Template Exporter add-on. The standard HTML exporter included with JasperReports may still be preferable for cross-platform compatibility and a consistent appearance on all browsers.

Template Exporter implements the JRExporter interface. It is designed to be used with JasperReports libraries v3.0 and the Apache Velocity Template engine. It is also possible to utilize only its internal Java wrapper objects for use in other template engines such as JSP.
