Making Sense Of Multidimensional Data

The endgame of BI software is better, faster decision-making. But to achieve that, it needs to help users make sense of multidimensional data, such as the relationships between products, customers, geography, and sales. JasperAnalysis provides powerful, web-based online analytical processing (OLAP) capability so business users can explore data to discover causes, spot trends and patterns, identify anomalies, and visualize correlations. It does the heavy analytical lifting that would be either too difficult or too expensive to perform using standard SQL-based query and reporting.

With JasperAnalysis, you can complement and extend the power of JasperServer. As a relational OLAP (ROLAP) product, JasperAnalysis leverages a rich, multidimensional metadata model to directly access relational data stores such as data marts, data warehouses, or operational data stores. It leverages the investments you have made in your RDBMS platforms and skills. There is no need to build and maintain hard-to-manage, proprietary, multidimensional OLAP cubes. JasperAnalysis features built-in aggregate awareness to dramatically speed performance against large data volumes. And it complies with de facto OLAP standards such as the MDX multi-dimensional expressions query language, and XML/A.

JasperAnalysis includes everything you need out of the box: a lightweight relational OLAP server, an easy-to-use web-based OLAP client, an MDX query builder (in iReport), MySQL, and Tomcat. With JasperAnalysis your business analysts can:

  • Leverage the familiarity of Excel as a front-end client to JasperAnalysis
  • Drill down, slice and dice, swap axes (pivot), filter, and chart
  • Drill through to underlying transaction details
  • Access the full power of multi-dimensional MDX queries
  • Sort across or within hierarchies
  • Show empty columns and rows
  • Provide row and column level security
  • Output to Excel or PDF

Finally—OLAP Without The Headaches

OLAP is often associated with big budgets, big hardware, big vision, and lots of time. But not if you’re deploying OLAP with JasperAnalysis. With Jaspersoft, all you need is a modest budget and a few burning questions that your business users need answered—like what is our average deal size and discount rate by product and year? With JasperAnalysis, you can leverage existing relational DBA investments and skills to implement OLAP incrementally!
