Brian Gentile brings a successful 24-year track record to Jaspersoft, helping it to become the open source business intelligence market leader, measured by product downloads, production deployments of its software, number of registered community members, and of course commercial customers. Prior to Jaspersoft, Brian was Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Informatica Corporation, the industry-leading data integration software company, where he helped the company grow consistently and substantially. Previously, Brian served as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Brio Software, a leading business intelligence software provider, where he was responsible for the company’s global market position and strategy, product marketing, corporate marketing and strategic partner relationships. Prior to Brio, as a Vice President at Sun Microsystems, Brian created Sun’s first-ever worldwide Developer Relations team and helped build the Sun and Java Developer Connection Programs, which reached over 2 million active members during his tenure. And prior to Sun, Brian led Apple’s Evangelism and Developer Relations team, enabling 10,000 independent software vendors to work closely and successfully with Apple’s products and technologies.
Brian’s professional affiliations include nearly seven years as a Public Governor on the board of the Pacific Stock & Options Exchange (now owned by the New York Stock Exchange) and two years as a public member of the NYSE’s Ethics and Business Conduct Committee. Additionally, Brian has provided founding Board member assistance for several Silicon Valley start-up ventures and currently serves as a Supervisory Board member for WCC, a Netherlands-based searching and matching technology company. Brian has earned a master of business administration degree from Arizona State University and a bachelor of science in business administration degree from the University of Arizona.
Brian writes a blog called The Open Book on BI, which provides expert, exclusive commentary on business and technology issues that exist at the intersection of Web 2.0, open source, and business intelligence. Brian is a blunt commentator on industry trends and newsmakers, as well as a thoughtful pundit on what he calls the "consumerization of information" in the enterprise.
As Chief Marketing Officer, Jim is responsible for all aspects of Jaspersoft’s global marketing efforts, including community growth, customer acquisition, and new market expansion. He leads Jaspersoft’s corporate marketing, demand generation, product marketing, and product management functions, bringing more than 20 years of experience leading growth in technology companies.
Prior to Jaspersoft, Jim was Vice President of Marketing at SmartTurn, a SaaS inventory and warehouse management software company acquired by Red Prairie. He also served as vice president at Electric Cloud and Actuate Corporation. Earlier in his career, Jim held product management and marketing leadership roles at companies including Vantive, MS2 (both now part of Oracle Corporation), Silicon Graphics and Hewlett-Packard. Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
As Chief Financial Officer, Scott is responsible for leading all worldwide finance, administration, and IT functions. He is a seasoned financial executive with over 20 years of experience supporting high-growth domestic and international operations, having most recently served as Chief Financial Officer at Intacct Corporation. Scott has also served in finance management roles at a number of companies in the software and telecoms sectors including Zone Labs, LGC Wireless, Nortel, and Platinum Technology. Scott holds a BS degree in Accounting and Economics and a Master of Accountancy degree from Weber State University.
As Senior Vice President of Engineering, Mike is responsible for all aspects of product development, quality, and delivery. With more than 24 years of experience in software engineering, Mike has successfully transitioned Jaspersoft’s product line strategy from a proprietary/commercial base to a leading commercial open source BI position.
Prior to Jaspersoft, Mike headed up CenterBoard’s engineering development and was vice president of Engineering Operations at Portal Software where he saw it through a successful IPO with a team of up to 130 professionals. Mike was also senior director for value added software at Auspex Systems where he directed 45 software engineers in the development of Java-based system management tools. He has also held management positions at Wyse Technology and General Electric. He holds an M.S. in Applied Mathematics and a B.S. in Combined Science from the University of Santa Clara and recently co-authored a book titled “Leading and Managing in Silicon Valley”(http://tinyurl.com/nnt99c).
As Vice President of Business Development, Jose is responsible for business strategy, strategic partnerships and new ventures. Jose joined Jaspersoft from VeriSign where he led global business development and international sales for the Intelligent Supply Chain Division. Jose joined VeriSign through the acquisition of R4 Global Solutions, an RFID systems integrator. At R4, Jose was Vice President of Business Development and Marketing. Prior to R4, Jose held various leadership positions in business development, sales, and marketing at Mercator, E.piphany, Niku, and PeopleSoft. Jose holds an MBA from Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management, and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Loyola Marymount University.
Karl Van den Bergh is the Vice President of Product Strategy at Jaspersoft, where he is responsible for product strategy, product management and product marketing. Karl is a seasoned high-tech executive with 18 years experience in software, hardware, open source and SaaS businesses, both startup and established.
Prior to Jaspersoft, Karl was the Vice President of Marketing and Alliances at Kickfire, a venture-funded data warehouse appliance startup. He also spent seven years at Business Objects (now part of SAP), where he held progressively senior leadership positions in product marketing, product management, corporate development and strategy – ultimately becoming the General Manager of the Information-On-Demand business. Earlier in his career, he was responsible for EMEA marketing at ASG, one of the world’s largest privately-held software companies. Karl started his career as a software engineer.
Karl holds a Masters degree in Computer Science, with Distinction, from Imperial College London and a Bachelors degree in Physics from Trinity College Dublin. He has lived and worked in many countries in Europe and in the US and is fluent in three languages.
As Senior Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations, Don is responsible for building world-class sales, professional and customer services organizations. Under Wight’s direction, Jaspersoft has delivered 21 straight quarters of record sales growth. Wight’s professional services group provides help to companies and governments with training and implementation skills to deploy mission-critical open source business intelligence software for both end use and embedded solutions.
Prior to joining Jaspersoft, Don was vice president of sales at Open Harbor, a provider of global trade management solutions. Don was also vice president of sales at Netcentives, helping the company to a successful IPO. Prior to Netcentives, he was with The Dialog Corporation, where he led two regional sales organizations. He has additionally held sales and management positions with broad success in industries spanning pharmaceuticals, medical and consumer goods. Don received his B.A. in International Business from the University of California, Berkeley.
Teodor Danciu is the founder and architect of the JasperReports library, the most popular open source reporting tool, and is now working for Jaspersoft. Before joining Jaspersoft, Teodor worked for almost 9 years with several French IT companies as a software engineer and team leader on ERP and other medium-to-large database-related enterprise applications using mainly Java technologies and the J2EE platform. Teodor has a degree in computer science from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest.
Giulio Toffoli is a Senior Software Engineer at Jaspersoft, where he serves as the iReport project leader. He has been developing Java applications since 1999 and founded the iReport project in 2001. During this time, Giulio has enjoyed designing complex software architectures and implementing custom software solutions with a focus on desktop and multitiered, web-based, client-server applications using Java (J2EE/JEE) and open source technologies. Giulio has a degree in computer science from the University of Bologna and currently resides in Italy.
