- Can I skip around among the course sections, or do I have to follow it in order?
- If I don’t have time to go through the course in one sitting, can I leave the course and have it remember where I left off?
- I notice that occasionally the video exercise will pause for a few seconds. Is this expected? Do I need to do anything as the user to get it going again?
- Do I need to answer all of the questions correctly for each quiz before proceeding?
- Do I need to look at all of the Hot Spot areas on the diagram before I can go to the Next Slide?
Can I skip around among the course sections, or do I have to follow it in order?
You are free to skip around and go through the sections in any order you wish. If there are sections that you are already familiar with, you can skip past these. If you want to review something that you’ve already worked on, you can go back to it as many times as you like. There is a navigation pane to the left of your screen that allows you to look through the sections including individual slides. To open a section, click on the triangle to the left of the section name – the triangle should change from pointing right towards the section name to pointing downward and the next level of the outline for that section should be revealed.
If I don’t have time to go through the course in one sitting, can I leave the course and have it remember where I left off?
For the duration of your subscription to the course, you can leave the course at anytime by pausing or stopping the course (the controls are at the bottom of the window) and closing the browser window that the class is open in. When you re-start the course from the link sent to you, the course will remember the slide that you left off on and prompt you if you want to be brought back to where you left off.
I notice that occasionally the video exercise will pause for a few seconds. Is this expected? Do I need to do anything as the user to get it going again?
This is a limitation that we are aware of. You do not need to do anything to get it re-started, just wait for the video to resume playing. (Please do not refresh your browser window – this will not help, and may cause your machine to “hang”) Depending on your location from the on-line server, the bandwidth of your connection, and the video capabilities of your computer you may see this occasionally. Jaspersoft is aware of this issue and is working on creating a streaming infrastructure solution for video display that will minimize the effects that a user will see.
Do I need to answer all of the questions correctly for each quiz before proceeding?
No, you can skip the quiz by navigating past it in the left navigation pane. Once you are in the quiz you must answer each question correctly before you can proceed to the next question though. The quiz will let you know if you have answered incorrectly when you submit your answer.
Do I need to look at all of the Hot Spot areas on the diagram before I can go to the Next Slide?
For the Introduction to Report Design using iReport course, you do need to click on each blue Hot Spot before you can proceed to the Next Slide. You will advance to the Next Slide by clicking on the “Next Slide” button in the upper right corner, which appears after you have clicked on all of the Hot Spots for that diagram. For the Advanced Report Design using iReport course, we have simplified the user interface. The “Next Slide” button will appear at all times and allow you to navigate to the next slide at any time. You are no longer required to click on each Hot Spot area if you choose not to.
