Downloading the Installer Activity

Jaspersoft software is downloadable from two locations: a free trial download site, intended for evaluators, and the Customer Support Portal, intended for customers.

 

Refer to the Overview associated with this module for more information.

The Jaspersoft website www.jaspersoft.com is opened for you.

 

Begin by clicking  Try It Now button

To proceed with this activity, click the Get the Download button.

If you are not already registered with Jaspersoft, a Register Now form appears.

 

For the purpose of training, the form is completed for you when you click the Register Now title bar.

Click the jasperreports-server-5.1-linux-x64-installer.run link.

Following your web browser's process, Save the file.

 

Click the Save button.

It may take several minutes to download the installer.

When the download completes, open the folder that contains the download.

 

For the purpose of training, the Downloads folder is opened for you.

Next, use a file transfer utility to transfer it from the local Windows computer to a remote Linux server.

The Downloads folder is opened for you.

Next, set the Execute permission on the installer.

 

When you click the installer application, a properties box appears.

 

Click the jasperreports-server-5.1-linux-x64-installer.run application.

The Execute permissions are set in this box by clicking the [ ] X checkbox.

 

For the purpose of training, Execute permissions are set for you on all user groups when you click the first [ ] X checkbox, .

 

Click the first X checkbox to continue.

Notice there are separate 32-bit and 64-bit installers for Windows, Linux/UNIX, and MacOS X.

 

These are the bundled installers.

Note: The WAR Archive allows you to set up JasperReports Server with an already installed Java application server and database.

 

Refer to the Supported Platforms (http://www.jaspersoft.com/supported-platforms) web page for a list of supported Java application servers and repository databases.

 

The WAR file installation is covered in a separate module.
