Starting and Stopping JasperReports Server Activity

1. 

For the purpose of training,  the JasperReports Server installation directory is opened and the long list command alias is run for you: ll.

 

Note: The Linux list command is ls. The long list command is ls -l.

Many Linux distributions include a double-L alias, ll as a time-saving shortcut.

If your distribution does not support the double-L alias, use ls -l instead.

2. 

Use ctlscript.sh to start and stop JasperReports Server.

 

Note: Refer to the this module's Overview if you installed to an existing Tomcat or PostgreSQL.

3. 

Begin with the script's help feature.

 

Type a valid value e.g. "./ctlscript.sh help" .

4. 

The ctlscript.sh usage syntax appears.

 

 

Notice that you can start, stop, restart and check the status of JasperReports Server, or just its components: PostgreSQL or Tomcat.

5. 

Next, start JasperReports Server.

 

Type a valid value e.g. "./ctlscript.sh start" .

6. 

JasperReports Server launches successfully.

7. 

Finally, stop JasperReports Server.

 

Type a valid value e.g. "./ctlscript.sh stop" .

8. 

JasperReports Server is successfully stopped.
