Action

1. 

Begin by opening the Profit Detail Report to schedule a report to run automatically.

 

Click the Reports View List button.

2. 

If there is a grey X on the right side of the Repository search field on the top of the center panel, click it to clear the search filter.

3. 

Right-click the 06. Profit Detail Report list item to view the context menu.

4. 

Click the Schedule menu item.

5. 

Note: The Scheduled Jobs page appears. The page is currently empty. You revisit this page after scheduling a report.

Click the Create Schedule button at the upper left to start the schedule wizard.

7. 

 

Note: The schedule wizard appears.

 

 

The schedule wizard includes four tabs: Schedule, Parameters, Output Options, and Notifications.

Note: On the Schedule page, configure the schedule to take effect immediately or to start on a future date and time.

Note: If the report is to run more than once, click the Recurrence Type drop-down menu.

 

Then select either the Simple or Calendar menu item to specify when and how often the job runs.

In the Recurrence Type drop-down menu, click the Simple menu item.

Notice that additional options now appear.

 

In the Recurrence section under the Repeat every setting, the drop-down at the right specifies minutes, hours, days, or weeks. Days is selected by default.

 

Enter 7 into the text field on the left so the report runs every seven days.

Note: Optionally, you specify a schedule end using the Schedule End section, and any holidays to exclude using the Holidays sections.

Note: The second tab, Parameters, is used only for reports that have input controls.

 

As this report has input controls, the Parameters tab appears. Otherwise, the tab would appear grayed out.

Click the Parameters tab to specify inputs.

Note: The Product Family list shows that there are three items selected: Drink, Food and Non-Consumable. 

 

There are several ways of removing items from this list, including clicking on the X to the right of any item you wish to remove.

On the right side of the Product Family field, click the Product Family Multi-Select list button.

Note: The Product Family Multi-Select list appears.

 

 

A checkmark to the right of an item indicates it is selected for report input. You can click on an item to deselect it.

 

You can also use the buttons at the bottom of the list: All, None or Inverse to manipulate which items are selected for input.

Click the Output Options tab next.

Note: The Output Options page appears.

 

 

Specify output file name, description, time zone, locale, output formats, file handling, files destination, and other details.

Enter WeeklyProfitDetailReport into the File Name field.

Report output can be saved in one or more formats. PDF is selected by default.

 

Click the Excel option.

Note: The page is scrolled down to see more options.

 

 

File Handling options include:

- Overwrite Files: Maintains a single copy of each output file

- Sequential File Names by Timestamp: Appends a time stamp to each output file name

Click the Sequential File Names option.

Note: Output Destination options include:

 

 

- Output To Repository: Saves the report to the location in the repository

- Output To Host File System: Saves the report to specified folder on the

JasperReports Server host machine (must be configured by your Administrator)

- Ouptut To FTP Server: Saves the report to specified FTP server

- Enable FTPS: Specifies whether the FTP server uses the FTPS file transfer protocol

- Port: Specifies the FTP connection port

Under Output Destination, in the Output To Repository field, click the Browse button and browse to Organization/Reports

Note: Task 1: Configure a recurring schedule, is complete.

Next, configure the email notifications options.

 

Click the Notifications tab.

Note: The Notifications page appears.

 

 

If an email server is configured, the scheduler can do the following:

- Notify users that reports are ready for viewing

- Include a link to the report and/or a PDF copy of the report

- Skip notifications if a report is empty

- Send a job status email

Enter                                 

manager@jaspersoft.com into the To field under Send report when scheduler runs.

Enter Your Weekly Profit Detail Report into the Subject field.

Enter Attached, please find your weekly profit detail report. into the Message field.

Note: Review the options that conrol how a report is included in an email.

Click the Include report files as attachments option.

Click the Do not send emails for empty reports option.

Note: Job status notifications can be sent for a scheduled report job that was completed successfully, or that failed.

 

For failed jobs, the notification can include report job information and a stack trace.

Enter                                   

manager@jaspersoft.com into the To field under Send job status notification.

Enter Profit Detail Report job status into the Subject field.

Click the Send success notification option.

40. 

Enter The scheduled Weekly Profit Detail Report completed successfully. into the Success Message field.

Click the Send failure notification option.

42. 

Enter The scheduled Weekly Profit Detail Report failed. into the Failure Message field.

Click the Include stack trace option.

Click the Save button.

45. 

Enter Weekly Profit Detail Report into the Scheduled Job Name field in the Save as window.

Enter This is a weekly Profit Detail Report into the Scheduled Job Description field.

Click the Save button.

Note: The Scheduled Jobs page reappears and displays the scheduled job.

 

Task 2: Configure the scheduler to email the report, is complete.

Note:  Clicking the Enabled checkbox disables the job. Clicking it again enables it.

 

Clicking the pen icon brings you back into the schedule wizard.

 

Clicking the X deletes the job from the Scheduled Jobs queue.

Next, view the Profit Detail Report in the Repository.

 

Click the Back button at the upper left.

Note: The Repository appears.

 

A clock icon appears to the left of the Profit Detail Report indicating there is a scheduled job for this report.
