J Trust Royal’s previous reporting system was, in the words of CIO Glenn Miller, “more like an archive than a BI tool.” It showed what had already happened, but didn’t help users explore the data or spot trends. “You could print the report,” Glenn explained, “but there were no dashboards or intelligence on top.” The software was also end-of-life, no longer supported by its original developer, and couldn’t easily process the unstructured data coming from the bank’s many systems.
As Glenn described, “We were looking at a complete gap. We couldn’t just take the old software with us. It wasn’t ours to use, and it couldn’t handle the structured data we needed to present.”
